SELF DEFENCE, BALLISTIC DRILLS AND ROCK`N` ROLL – PART 1 - ENG

I recently came across a wonderful article, written by an excellent Krav Maga teacher, in which he talked about the oversimplification of skills in Self - Defense. Nothing could be truer, as many say, just hit the vulnerable spots. Job done. A palm strike and a kick in the balls, what else? From a business perspective it works, from a practical standpoint not always. In my opinion we need to go back to the basics, work on the fundamentals to create the basis for proper offensive-defensive movement. It is impossible to survive a brutal aggression if we do not have perfect balance, coordination, footwork, reflexes, speed, power, stamina and more. As well as the necessary fighting mentality. Take for example the foundation of a house: it serves to anchor the building to the ground, while the exterior decorations serve little ultimate purpose. This is how it should be in the world of Self-Defense, with skills honed to the point of creating perfect explosive movements, otherwise at the first gust of wind the house will collapse. This article is dedicated to those who always want to review the basic exercises, to those who always want to delve into details and master white belt movements because, as a great instructor used to say, advanced techniques are nothing more than perfectly mastered basic techniques
